About

Mampei Hotel is a classic hotel that has shared more than a century of history with the summer resort town of Karuizawa. In 2024, marking the 130th anniversary of its founding in 1894, the hotel underwent a large-scale renovation and reconstruction project.

The Alps Wing, which was constructed in 1936 and designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2018, has been cherished by numerous distinguished guests, including cultural figures and political leaders throughout the prewar and postwar periods to the present day with its featured half-timbered style exterior design that harmonizes with the landscape in Karuizawa, as well as distinctive interiors blending Japanese and Western styles.

Based on the concept “Mampei Hospitality Connecting 130 Years – Weaving Culture, History, and Nature,” the hotel is committed to preserving its legacy as a historically significant architecture in the history of Japanese hotels, while continuing to offer guests distinguished and prestigious experiences of classic hotel for many years to come.
